Attempted armed robbery at a Georgina payday loan store last night


York Regional Police Heist Unit investigators are looking for witnesses following an attempted theft at a store in the town of Georgina.

On Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at 8 p.m., York Regional Police responded to a payday loan store in the Riverglen Drive and Queensway South area with a theft report.

Officers learned that a male suspect was waiting for the employee to leave the store when it closed. The suspect was armed with a gun and threatened the victim while forcing her inside and demanding money. The suspect attempted to obtain a certain amount of money, but to no avail. The suspect fled before the police arrived.

The suspect is described as a male, white, wearing black clothes and a black mask.
